Press Room Forward-Murray Development News 07/30/08 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- July 22, 2008 The Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition is sponsoring a community informational meeting regarding the recently announced multi-use development project at the corner of Murray and Forward Avenues in Squirrel Hill. The meeting will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008, at 7:00 PM in the Levinson Hall of the Jewish Community Center of Pittsburgh , 5738 Forbes Avenue, Squirrel Hill. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. The project site includes the former Poli's Restaurant property on Murray Avenue, another two-story building on the corner, and the building housing the Squirrel Hill Theater on Forward Avenue. A presentation will be made by the developers and their architect, and a question-and-answer session will follow. The proposed project would occupy a significant site in the neighborhood. The site itself and its vicinity are mentioned numerous times in the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition's "Master Plan- Directions for Our Future", published in 1990. The area is known as the "Forward Portal" and is perhaps the major entrance into the Squirrel Hill community. Careful examination of any large development project proposed for that location is therefore very important. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting so they can see what is being proposed and have an opportunity to ask questions and make comments. Back
